I have a 17-year-old baby kitty. I love her a lot, and she loves me back. For the last couple of months she has claimed one side of my bed as hers. No idea why. It isn't a major problem, except that that is the side of the bed I have slept on for ten years. Now it is Chaya's side of the bed. It belongs to her. If she finds me lying on that side of the bed, she yells at me until I move.
