I truly appreciate because I grew up here in the States accustomed to people holding the door open for one another. When I first returned to Asia, I often found myself accidentally getting hit in the nose by doors. I had assumed the person in front of me would hold the door briefly, but instead, it would swing back at me. Coming back to the U.S. made me appreciate this simple yet thoughtful gesture even more.
