Maybe it's just me... but there is no way I'm going to dirty another dish to sear a roast before it goes into the slow cooker. Not one of my kids has ever said "Hmm, do you know what this delicious roast is missing? A sear." I mean, half the time I forget to thaw it too and it goes in completely frozen.
