I don't know what police officer needs to hear this, but if you catch someone in the commission of a crime you don't need anyone's permission or authorization to arrest them. You don't need a warrant. Even if that person is a gazillionaire and says he's not criming. If you catch him criming, that's all you need. You just read him his rights, cuff him, throw him in the back of the car as hard as you can, and haul him downtown. IJS
