I used to go above and beyond at work. Filing in for an employee, working doubles, staying late, picking up my pace to meet deadlines, training employees, training employees in Spanish (I'm not bilingual) and guess what it got me? Nothing. When I got my last 25 cent raise, I just quit. And now that I'm a stay at home mom with a small Etsy shop, I find myself wanting to go above and beyond while choosing not to pay myself for it. I need to stop repeating the cycle and learn to respect myself.
