My son has level 2 autism. He’s been in special ed since he was 18 mos old. He didn’t walk until he was 2 & didn’t talk until he was 5. He is still considered non-verbal. He needs extra support at school & probably will throughout his life. I’m not equipped to homeschool him. I speak for many parents of special needs kids: I’m hopeful for his future but also terrified. If DOEd is defunded, these kids won’t have guaranteed support in public schools. Few families will be able to afford therapies.
