So, if we assume that poetry is everywhere, in everything, etc. and that, we, as poets, are conduits for that poetry (Jack Spicer - blackbird press... I think). Then, when we write a poem, we aren't writing poetry, we are writing an idea of poetry, much in the same way that a photo isn't the thing it's a record of the thing. And when we edit the poem, we are adding our own biases to the original form. 1/
