I think people are shocked when they see real authenticity—someone being true to themselves, even if it contrasts with who you perceived them to be. Becoming who you think you should be or performing to meet expectations isn’t authenticity; it’s performative. You might assume I’m supposed to be a certain way because I like crystals, meditate, or eat healthy—or the opposite. But that’s not the entirety of who I am. And why would it be?
