My parents adopted an elderly dog who the shelter said wouldn't live another year. She had heart worms and all kinds of problems related to the breeds she was mixed with (pug and some various unidentifiable breeds). My mom got her, her name was lady, and she lived another 5 years before we sadly had to let her go. She had been returned to the shelter twice and was going to be put down. She was 13 when she passed. A sweet and amazing puppy, she was loved and she is very missed.

As someone who is disabled & on Sec 8, currently homeless & living w/fam with my 2 cats..... I Can say it is VERY difficult to find Sec 8 housing that meets ones requirements (basic ones btw) & allows pets, at all. There's MANY new apts in my area that don't allow pets either. I'm grateful I've been able to move from fam members home to fam members home w/my cats, but not everyone can. Sometimes it's, "It's below freezing, *I* need to stay warm, at least in a shelter or rescue they will too"...

You wouldn’t drop your child off at the pound because you are moving then why do it to a pet. If you aren’t willing to be homeless for them then you don’t deserve dogs.

I hope that people like that suffer.
