We honor Roslyn Williams who was a Montessori parent turned pioneer after she opened the first Montessori School for Black children in Harlem in the 1960s. She also founded CHAMP which was the first African American Teacher Education Program for Montessori training in the U.S. CHAMP evolved into what is now Westside Montessori-TEP in NYC.
