I'd been on every antidepressant doctors ever thought to give me, and finally went off the last one because it wasn't possible for me to be MORE depressed even unmedicated. But after 9 months of sobbing every day, I asked my GP if I could try wellbutrin because it also helps ADHD, and he couldn't do it (in the UK you can only get it for stopping smoking?? Only time I've regretted not smoking) but he put me on an SNRI. He said they were a step up from SSRIs 1/2 Mental Health Threads

I absolutely would not be as successful as I am today without my Wellbutrin. It’s a freaking miracle drug for me.

I was at high doses on all the others I’ve tried. None worked. Sertraline was my miracle. I’ve never left the starting dose. But with saying that the best thing for my anxiety/depression was b12 injections. My levels were incredibly low and getting them up a little bit helped immensely.

I tried dozens of meds for depression and anxiety. Went to the doc and broke down and vented every symptom (not just depression but my body hurt all the time, I was holding weight, puffy, joints hurt and so unmotivated and angry all the time. She asked if I had ADHD and I said 🤷🏻‍♀️. We decided to try ADHD meds and when I tell you it was Life changing, I'm not exaggerating. NOTHING has ever helped my depression, anger and mood more.

I’ve been on generic Prozac for years and am stable but I was diagnosed with ADHD in my mid thirties. I use IHS & have a medical team for my primary care. They don’t have anyone who is authorized to manage controlled meds so I don’t have any access to my ADHD meds rn. I think I might ask if I can switch to Wellbutrin at my next appointment.

Please look into Deep TMS. I spent 30 years on antidepressants and they all eventually stopped working for me after a few years. I was very skeptical but it has really improved my life immensely. Also, my doctor prescribed a new antidepressant called Auvelity which has also really helped. Unfortunately, there isn’t really a pill that will help the kind of depression that comes from watching my country be destroyed

These drugs were tested and approved for short term use. Long term, the risk of neurological damage, negative mental health and sexual dysfunction increases. The positive results are usually short term, which is usually a enough time catalyze positive change. Tapering off is likely better for long term. But there is a lotore to learn. GPs are only as knowledgeable as the personal research they do. Many are not aware of the problems.
