I’m from here and I have the same question. I hate it.

They would need a lot of lighting they have a lot of long curvy roads :/

Everytime I come back to Charlotte from some out of state trip, I’m shocked how dark it is. I don’t really notice it until I go somewhere else with lights.

My entire commute to and from work is about 31 miles down HWY 17 in N.C. and it’s so poorly lit. I grew up in Raleigh and there were maybe 2 functioning street lights in the whole neighborhood. No we did not have an HOA or anything. But I’m not complaining because now I’m in a nice little trailer park with way more street lights than I could ever want, including one shining directly onto my bed at night.

(I’m from SC) If you’re near the coast (low country), it’s conservation efforts for wildlife and the environment. Lights disturb and disrupt the turtles, gators, birds, etc. It’s nothing to be in HHI and almost hit a gator at night bc you don’t see it until you’re UP ON IT. SC may be behind on many things, but they don’t play about that coastline!!
