it's not just airtags. there are some other third sorry items like cycles, and third party trackers, etc. both apple and google made it so that anyone can implement tags on any device in their network. like a power bank or keychain with tracker built in. google for example doesn't build their own trackers at all. but built in format never caught on. so now you have airtags and third party tags and they show up under item.

Same for samsung smart tags, because probably you cannot interact the same way with them than a phone
