It’s literally called Autism Spectrum DISORDER. If you don’t believe it’s a disorder, then it isn’t autism.

I’m assuming every person on this thread claiming that it is not a disorder can feed themselves, clean their homes, pay their bills. Even in a society void of culture, I would STILL have support needs so that, you know, I don’t starve to death. I’m so glad y’all have low support needs, but don’t jump into the comments of someone who actually needs help and diminish their entire experience.

As an autistic person with little support needs, I always find this kind of conflict somewhat...off. There are people screaming AUTISM IS A DISABILITY or AUTISTIC PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO BE CURED Why speak as if we are all the same? I'm myself not disabled, but I know there are people with debilitating autism. We are speaking of neurodiversity and yet so many of us who can't accept differences and that the autism spectrum includes people who experience it mildly and those who experience it strongly

It's a disability, no amount of toxic positivity will change that.

“iT wOuLdn’T bE a diSaBiLitY iF wE weRe aCComMoDaTEd” 1. that’s what a disability fucking is. a wheelchair is an accommodation, glasses are an accommodation, hearing aids are an accommodation. 2. IT WOULD STILL BE DISABLING especially for HSN autistic people
