Any time someone says, layoffs happen, that’s the real world, I remind them that when layoffs occur in the private sector, there’s not a mob of people and part of the country cheering it on, or calling you “waste” and trimming the “fat”. Or some goon gleefully waving a chainsaw around mocking the loss of your livelihood.
