Geneviève Page, the most luminous of the stars in Billy Wilder’s The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, has died at 97, outliving all her major costars. A long life and an extraordinary career, including a memorable role in Buñuel‘s Belle de Jour.
She appears as a distant object of wonder in my debut novel The Continuity Girl; and just a couple of weeks ago I decided to have the protagonist of my WIP (who is a supporting player in my first book) name his daughter after her (see second pic).
