Classical and contemporary Pilates are marketing terms used to distinguish between types or lineages of Pilates. People use classical, traditional or authentic to indicate the connection to JP's method. Classical is also a term that some groups are advocating to own or connect to one lineage. But there are so many other lineages of people who teach what's considered 'classical' who are not Romana such as Kathy Grant, Lolita San Miguel, Eve Gentry, Carola Trier, Ron Fletcher etc.
