Last night I had a thought - Maybe what we call Pathological demand avoidance in autistic kids - is a child unafraid to say "I am the boss of my own body" & fighting back with everything they've got when we don't respect that. And isn't that a good thing? It's a hard thing, sure. But how many of us grew us wishing someone would hear us? Listen to our anguished screams -, "I don't feel safe" How many of us were punished for it? Me, too.
