I need people to understand that this part of Canada's refugee policy does NOT mean that US LGBTQ+ folks can gain asylum just because things are *kind of generally bad* here for us. Asylum requires very specific, immediate, and deadly persecution and even then people are sometimes denied. This person's claims are just straight up false. If you consider yourself an ally to a group, then listen to people in that group instead of using a disagreement as a time to belittle and feel superior.
