Beach Street, one of the oldest streets in Penang, was established between 1786 and 1787. It’s long been the island's commercial and financial hub. Though it's known as Beach Street throughout, locals refer to different sections by unique names. Today, I’m exploring the stretch between Acheh Street and Malay Street, locally known as “Phak Thik Kay” in Hokkien, meaning Ironmongers Street.
