I get they performative 100% and sometimes feels disingenuous😬, the only thing I’m not in agreement with is your perception that she thinks “she did something wrong” because she paused. I’d take pause too if someone asked me that, in any situation, but it’s only because I don’t think it matters… and in this specific scenario, it’s irrelevant to the compliment. It’s like me saying “hey, you’re gorgeous!” and your response is “thanks! What’s your religion?” Idkkkk lol
