Beat me to it. Over half of the project files I open for teaching or engineering, we’re taking off at least one Soothe and using EQ or volume instead (, or nothing). Sidechain is a bit less overused but the envelope controls can make or break the cohesion. I generally prefer manual volume automation or ShaperBox in place of sidechain compression.
