The only time homework requires that amount of time is if your child has not spread it out over the time given. I’m a high school teacher and I get emails from parents complaining about their child spending two hours on an assignment, as if they had one night to do it instead of two weeks. Most teachers post calendars that include assignments and due dates.

Veteran mom here. The only time any of my kids had that much work was if they were 1) getting caught up ( ie being off for illness/ vacation) 2) the child did absolutely NOTHING in school
