One night the smoke alarm in the nursery went off, waking me from the deepest sleep. I ran out in a daze to turn it off and then checked my 7th month old baby, figuring he’d be wide awake by now. He was fast asleep, face down in his bed. Not a single bit of air flow.
He already had breathing issues with laryngomalacia and I just knew in that moment that I was woken for a reason. I felt sick knowing how close we came. From that night on I always flipped him onto his back when I went to bed.
