Why is it that when a white American speaks French, it’s seen as impressive, but when a brown person speaks five languages, they’re told to “speak English or go back to their country”? Language is a skill, not a privilege—every culture and voice deserves respect.

Children of the former colonies have the ability to read, write, speak and think in English.
