It never did! It’s always been MATHS, an abbreviation of the word MATHEMATICS. That is how the English, whose language it is, decide it is said. Your abbreviation to MATH, is not only incorrect but sounds stupid when spoken out loud. If you’re going to use our language then have the decency to use it correctly.
