Have you noticed how a sub 4 marathon nowadays seem like nothing new? Looks like you don’t need to be a long time runner as even the new ones have been achieving it. Must be their passion and discipline that’s giving them the edge.

10 小時內	Cayman chronicles caymangts4chronicles	Or maybe running a 9 minute a mile pace isn’t a great athletic achievement. When I ran a 3:44 in 1983 it was considered quite pedestrian. I then gave up running and all sports for 40 years, trained for 6 months, and ran a 3:56 in 2024. Now it’s considered impressive. A sub-4 is no harder, actually easier, today. There are just thousands of people running slower times that were unheard of a generation ago and a sub-4 is only impressive by comparison.
