A lil off tangent from the repost, but lemme bite. This beautiful piece of wooden architecture is made by Malay people. It's placed here, at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (part of Oxford Uni), where other artifacts from the Muslim world also resides including a panel of the kiswah from the Kaabah. I always had a problem with the notion of "Melayu malas", because that's not what I witnessed growing up. Malays are intricate & artistic. 1/

幾秒內	Ezza Jalani ezzajalani	Otherwise, this window panel wouldn't be the first to greet you when you step into the centre's compound. Placed right at the entrance. For all visiting eyes to see. Malays have a sense of quiet pride. Only for those who knows how to appreciate can you really see the beauty of Malay people. And it's far from "malas". (Pic taken during my visit in Nov 2017) 2/2.
