Thirty-five years after reunification, Germany is still divided: East vs. West since 1949, North vs. South since the Reformation (16th century), Prussia vs. Catholic states since the 18th century. While Cold War-era differences persist, even these older splits in religion, culture, and dialect remain visible. Yet, the country is slowly converging as gaps shrink and identities blend.
