Nothing like Japan’s clothing sizes to give you a reality check that a U.S. Small is a Japanese XL

I wouldn’t consider it a reality check. It’s not much different when we order things from the US and have UK sizes to compare to

Japan is also a country where they'll openly mock people for their weight on TV and make entertainment out of humiliating people for their looks.

My Japanese brother-in-law in Nagoya sent me a couple of t-shirts. Send me one L size shirt “That’s what you wear, right?” and a LL size “Sorry, that’s all they had.” The L size was easily a Youth L shirt State side, and the LL was an M, which allowed me one wear until I washed it and then it became my wife’s 😂

Don't know why it's so hard for some foreigners to get their head around the sizing here especially take an honestlook around you in Japan look at the size of the typical women's frame, take a look at yourself on a non emotionally fueled real size basis. Whether you like it or not western girls on average typically have more around that belly and other areas it's just reality! This goes for the guys just as much if not more, but luckily oversized clothes are pretty popular fashion here!

I went to a clothing store in shibuya. A Younger clientele kind of place. I tried on a pair of printed jeans. The size was M. The damn pants 👖 stuck at my knees and I fell in the dressing room…. I asked for help to get me out of the jeans. I felt like a giant.

While I’m on threads and this has some traction. does any one wanna become pen pals / mail buddies and we can send each other stuff from our respective countries that we can’t get? 😂 if you happen to be an expat im happy to Venmo or Zelle if you are US based.
