This is terrible and I pray the newborns and their parents make it through this infection. This kind of tragedy is avoidable thanks to vaccines. A person's decision not to vaccinate, not to trust science, and not to work towards herd immunity puts all vulnerable humans in the community, like newborns, at risk. Many newborns are now at risk of serious illness and death. Our choices impact more than just ourselves. When it comes to vaccines, the lives we save may not be our own.
