Why is it in Mathew 13. Jesus talks about the parables. His disciples asked him why he uses them. And jesus says he meant to confuse people. To make them understand. Y. Or did I read it wrong. I read it 4 times.

Many of those passages are a fullfillment of old testament prophecies. (Read the cross references to Isaiah, Jeremiah & Ezekiel.) I believe He did not intend them to be understood by the unrepentent pharisees because it was not yet time for Him to die. His ministry was not complete. If they had understood, they would have killed Him sooner. "Kill the heir and the vinyard will be ours." Matt 21:38. He explained what He meant later to His followers when they were alone.
