My son has been setting an alarm, getting ready for school and packing a lunch since 3rd grade. He makes his breakfast since 7/8th.

8 seems right, but whenever they're ready and capable of using the equipment safely. I've been working on teaching my 8 year old how to cook different things.

I cook daily but some of my kids like cooking their own food my 7 &8 year old. I watch them the whole time but some things they are pretty good at. My 12 year old loves to cook . My 13 year old would rather starve than cook her old food . My 16 year old cooks the whole family dinner about once month and cooks for herself when ever she feels like . Some times they all come together & do cooking competitions. My 3 year old doesn’t cook his food but is very particular about how I cook his food lol

To me them knowing how versus doing it all the time is different. I make my 15 year old lunch every day for school. She usually makes herself lunch on the weekend and has since about 10/11. I enjoy loving on my kids and feeding them is part of that.
