When I was young, whenever someone asked me how old my parents were, I would always reply, “I don’t know…” I would often get judgmental looks, but that never bothered me. People can say and think whatever they want of me, but I know and more importantly, ALLAH knows—what is in my heart. I refused to find out their ages because I didn’t want to confront the truth that with each passing day, hour, and minute, we are approaching our inevitable end. The fear of losing them is just too much for me.
