My mom worries over my Threads posts. I am a US citizen, but I was born and raised abroad. I’m away for now, but the US is mine and my family’s home. Yet, it’s clear that Trump is testing the waters for broad and sweeping action targeting immigrants. Her worry makes me think of the mothers across America right now who must be terrified for their children. Most would be in much more vulnerable positions than myself. If my mother is worried, their mothers must be terrified.
