I love coriander (cilantro) so much but detest parsley. Usually it’s the other wan around right? Anyone smarter than me wanna help me explain this? Much obliged.

While coriander and cilantro do come from the same plant, coriandrum sativum, they are different parts. Cilantro refers to the fresh leaves and stems, while coriander refers to the dried seeds. They actually have very different flavors. As to why you like parsley and coriander. That could be biologically driven or learned behavior (like if you had a bad experience with one). I personally do not like either cilantro or parsley, but cook with coriander frequently. *Edited*

Coriander and Cilantro not the same thing. And we have a spice palate that helps determine what herbs and spices we enjoy.
