I suppose that one can argue that in most circumstances, I'm supposed to notice what is being illuminated rather than the lighting design, but don't let that stop you. I like talking to theater designers.

I was a lighting designer for 4 years and lighting operator for 10 years. I designed the lights based on each scene, like the mood, the script and most importantly what the Director wanted. The play Gaslight was the most challenging, and the most rewarding because the lighting was a main protagonist of the entire show.
