Decades of neglect in agricultural policies, infrastructure, and support systems have left Filipino farmers struggling. Small landholdings, failed cooperatives, high costs of seeds and fertilizers, limited access to mechanized equipment, financial aid, lack of post harvest infrastructures, and efficient supply chains have made them vulnerable to cheaper imported goods from countries with stronger government support. As a result, Filipino farmers work harder yet remain less competitive.
