When I was a kid in the '70s, my best friend from two farms away got the measles. It was a full year before he left their farm for anything other than a doctors appointment or before he visited me. I remember being sad that he could not come to play in my tractor tire sandbox. Every kid in our small towns (Iola & Bedias, TX) got vaccinated or boostered after his diagnosis. I had to get tested once a month because he & I were so close.
