I adored NL! If you're a history buff, and going to be near Bonavista/Trinity Bay, I highly recommend visiting the site where they filmed the miniseries "Random Passage." Don't need to have seen the show...you can walk through buildings built as they were in the early 1800s. Get a guided tour, it's so fascinating. It was one of the highlights of my trip (besides visiting Fogo Island Inn just to see the building and have a meal there, which you can do as a non-guest if you book far enough ahead).

Newfoundland is like a different country, yer profoundly Canadian! I loved it!

There’s usually a festival of some sort every other week end in the summer as well. Lewisporte has the Mussel Bed Soirée St. John’s has George Street Festival AND The Regatta on the same week end - be advised GSF isn’t for the weak, and you’ll probably kill your liver; There’s the Trinity Loop; the Salmonier Nature Park - essentially a zoo in the woods; Carbonear and Hr. Grace have pirate and aviation history Brigus will host the Blueberry Festival Do all the things.
