Hey professional photographers, I recently collaborated with a model and delivered 12 final images out of 210 shots taken, covering a few different scenes. She expressed concerns about the limited number of final images provided. And concerns about not giving her the unedited images to participate in the culling process. I want to ensure that my approach aligns with modern industry standards and would love to hear from other professionals…

39 分鐘內	Andrew Wilson andrew_wilson_photography_	You own the images, not the model. They are a reflection of your work so it is important that you choose the best ones out of the shoot. If the model wants the photos to play with they have to buy them off you; as in buy the copyright. Obviously there is a bit of give and take on the day, but your editor should be culling crap pictures as you take them as well as advising on lighting etc.

2 小時內	Halide xxsilver_halidexx	Depends on your contract, but if you’re just being paid for your time, a good rule of thumb for me is editing and delivering 10%~15% of the shots you take. In exceptional cases, the RAWs, too, but they must have a very good reason.
3 小時內	Benny Wee Ming Hann benny.wmh	I state in the planning of the shoot how many photos (JPEGs that I selected, no RAWs) they can expect, typically 8 to 12 per hour of shooting. I usually am able to deliver more than that, so the other party kinda feels like I over delivered and leave the process happier. Still, I've encountered situations like yours. In those cases, I just point to the previously agreed upon arrangement in email / DMs.

She was a model and actress who enjoyed editing photos but we discussed this before the shoot and agreed to some stipulations. In general, sharing raw images is not by any means normal or should be expected.
7 小時內	Rielle Oase really_rielle	You didn’t do anything wrong and I think your approach is pretty standard. Working with clients, I’ve adapted my collab practice to include the rest of the team in culling. Either on site or with maternarked proofs. I still don’t hand out unedited shots though.
