To my fellow guitar and amp enthusiasts, I have a theory that the reason why large amps have fallen out of favour is 100% a matter of speaker efficiency. With the difference of efficiency between the best eminence and the oldest celestions being a matter of about 10db, which is equal to the difference in volume between a 100w amp into the worse speaker and a 0.1w amp into the more efficient speaker, the volume problem is not a case of to many watts, it’s too efficient speakers. Opinions?
