Sorry to say.. a big part of the church IS the culture. Especially in Utah. So… by association, yes the church teaches this, mostly subliminally, but it does. The “Church” may not, but the people do over and over again.

I think you are taking “teaches” too literally. the culture of the church that gets leaned into makes these things occur as a byproduct. And your last bullet point is straight up false. Mormons absolutely judge each other quite harshly, especially with expectations as to how frequently you attend church and how much money you give. And heaven forbid you drunk coffee 😂

It's weird how some of the comments focus on the Temple but yet don't even want to attend our congregation in our Chapel. Our chapel is open to members AND non-members. Some members who have 2 weddings to accommodate those who are not eligible to enter into the temple. One is the Sealing wedding which is sacred and the other one can be done in our chapel by our bishop. If you're hurt about not attending your loved ones wedding than maybe you should be upset with them and not at the church.

The church is a toxic place for queer people. My biggest regret in life is that I stayed in as long as I did. The new policies that were just published regarding trans members are absolutely shameful.
