Whats the secret sauce of house hi hats and reverb? I hear it so often in tracks, that the hats are in their own space or small room but you don't hear a decay of the reverb. Is it an envelope follower that cuts the reverb? Also in UK Garage the whole drums like their in the separate space. how to archive that? Detailed explanation or examples of settings highly appreciated. Thanks in advance #mixingengineer

2 小時內	Talon bassmender	Could have the hats sent to a send with reverb on it, then have a gate on the send to cut the reverb at a certain point (for example, have it cut out every 8th) then adjust the gatefor hi hat rolls maybe.
2 小時內	Jonas Steur estuera	Very short room or gated reverbs will do this. I usually have a room reverb (very short pre delay an decay) as a send FX on most of the drum sounds (besides the kick). And as already been said sometimes samples have been used that have reverb baked in. That certainly is one of the reasons why some UK garage tracks have that sound.
7 小時內	Marc Baigent marcbaigent	Very short verb on a bus and sidechain it to original signal, similar to how you’d do delays/verbs on a vocal. Eq the verb bus to fit into a pocket where there’s a bit of space in the spectrum. Can also use a fet comp if you want to bring the verb more upfront instead of at the back of the mix. Kick 2 or nerve is great for all drum hits as you have full control over every one from tuning, tone, phase and shape
17 小時內	Greg David ~ Producer gregory_david_gtr	Send the hats to a buss (15%) , hipass some highs and lows out, saturate, send it thru reverb, spread the reverb out with a stereo width plugin so it’s not phasey and sitting in the same location. eq’ing the reverb lets it sit in the mix better instead of just puting in in series.
