Anyone have experience with blocked cats? Ours just blocked for the first time and I’m terrified. We don’t know yet if they’re seeing a stone and will need surgery. We’ve already paid 4k for his unblock and hospitalization. If we take him home there is a huge risk he could block again and we don’t have money to unblock again/ for the surgery/ more hospital days. I really don’t want to put my baby down. Did anyone else’s kitty block right away?? VeterinaryMedicine

3 小時內	Courtney octoberscorpion	My boy blocked in March of this year. He re-blocked 4 times (2 times because he removed the urinary cath himself). It took some experimenting with his meds to find the doses that worked for him, and I slowly weaned him off the meds over the course of a month. In total he cost me $6000; I am an RVT so I did save some money when I was able to treat him at my clinic, but he did spend 4 days at the ER.
6 小時內	Theresa Hodge theresa.hodge2	Mine blocked the first time at 5 and then more seriously at 15( needed surgery to remove stones). Stick to the wet food prescription diet!
17 小時內	Ashley fortheocean	Strictly urinary food is extremely helpful in these cases as well. You'll have to pursue imaging and urinalysis to see if you're cat has stones vs type of crystals to determine next steps.
