Antonelli is not Hamilton replacement. Lewis is a 7 times world champion. You don’t replace that. Antonelli is an unknown rookie that none of us know can achieve anything yet? I mean he’s not really set the world of F2 on fire, had he? Mercedes should have taken Carlos for a year and put Kimi in the Williams to learn his craft.

4 小時內	Tom Wells bravesirthomas	He’s the youngest driver in F2 and is comfortably beating his teammate (Bearman). It’s a risk bringing him in so early, sure, but Toto doesn’t want to miss another Max. Also, I don’t think Williams are in a position to do whatever Toto wants anymore. They’re in a much better place than a few years ago.

Fast drivers that crash eventually turn into fast drivers who don't crash. Fast drivers who don't crash turn into multiple times wdc. Mercedes also has a bunch of simulator and test results that have impressed them. Give Kimi 3 years in the sport and he will prove that he was a good Hamilton replacement.

What a driver can or can do is better express in real life data and telemetry than « proof » acquired through F2. We had evidence time and time again than F2 results does not mean much when it comes to F1 performance.
