Depends How severe is the limp ? Did it suddenly appear ? What happened before ? Is the pet in distress/pain ?

ehhhhhhh it depends- working in neuro i see a lot of randomly limping dogs not get seen soon enough and lose their back legs 🤷🏼‍♀️ too broad of a statement

Depends on why and is there a patient more emergent? It’s definitely a get them in today situation.

Okay people the distinction between urgent and emergency is the important point here. OP is likely stating this because somebody is complaining that they have to wait to be seen instead of immediately jumping to the front of the line as opposed to say, a dog actively hemorrhaging significant amounts of blood, or a cat that can’t breathe.

My dog started limping really badly, rushed her to the emergency vets and she'd snapped the crucial ligament in her knee. Limps can be horrific or a simple thorn in the paw. Depends on the limp...

If your pet is suffering you take them to the vet. End of story.

So I get what you're saying - I've read the replies. But the slipped disc thing and subsequent limp that turned into paralyzation and no DPS and ultimately emergency neurosurgery over Easter weekend. We did the urgent route 2x before rushing to the emergency vet and should have bypassed that to surgery sooner.

It actually can be an emergency depending on the cause of the limp
