In sales and marketing you're taught to offer solutions to problems and frustrations so a lot of that content focuses on the negative. In parenting, I've seen a lot of influencers and 'mummy bloggers' talking about the negative sides, the frustrating side of parenting. I think they think it makes them seem more relatable and they haven't got all their sh*t together. I think people are scared to admit they've had an amazing day or their kids have behaved well in case they're labelled smug.

Let’s change the narrative! I think it is important to have a balance..there’s a lot of challenge that’s not discussed that more mothers need to be reminded that they’re not alone in. However, I do agree with you that we also need to shine ✨ the light on all the beauty amidst the crazy!!

Remember that the algorithm plays a role on what we see m based on what you stop to look at, BUT also I think because morherhood is a lot of up and downs and when it’s down moms are just looking to vent and connect tbh

I think it all depends on your friends! It’s easy to fall into complaining when everyone else is doing it. But it’s also true that it’s a hard balance of sharing some difficulties for the purpose of knowing you’re not alone and encouraging one another, and sharing the highlights of parenting as well!

the hard reality of this is that showing the negative side gets more engagement bc I think negative experiences are unfortunately apart of a lot of moms experiences. Social media in history has highlighted more of the amazing side of Motherhood so the change that we see now I think reflects that. Motherhood is an up and down so one day i'm totally into some of the amazing sides and on rough sleep regression days i may lean into the other side. I think both are equally important 🤍

I remember the days of being a stay at home to toddlers. Some days were beautiful while some days were exhausting and frustrating. It felt like I was very up-and-down in between. Maybe the moms are writing these whiny blogs on their hardest days and it’s therapeutic for them. On the good days, they don’t write anything. And then people resonate with that on their hardest days and share it so that they feel like they’re not alone.
