Can your kid walk or take the bus so the rest of us may move about our cities and towns? Thanx. I'll await Angry Parent comments here. https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/new-school-year-drop-off-and-pick-up-rules

Not angry, you're right. But there are actually some legitimate reasons for this congestion twice per weekday and a major one is the driver shortage. It not only leads to a lack of communal transport, accommodating with lengthened routes puts kids on buses for an hour or more. Then, many communities don't have safe pedestrian infrastructure. Lastly, if you're also moving about in a car, what might be better options for walking, biking, or ride sharing? "You aren't in traffic, you are traffic."

We walk/scoot/take the T to his elementary school and I’d be delighted to add letting him bike into the mix. But apparently the south end and back bay neighborhood associations need to fight any additional bike lanes with every fiber of their being so tbd if that ever happens. A group of us parents are going to see if we can get his school to add bike and scooter parking of some sort. That’ll be a help.
