I'm interested, too! Henning Mankell, CJ Sansom? Both crime but page turners for me. Sansom brings Tudor England to life and the characters are great. Not so light, Hallie Rubenhold's Five, the personal and social history of the five women victims of J the Ripper. Beautifully written. Thrilling and moving to read about their real lives. Also Vic Gatrell's The First Bohemians, social history of 17th century Covent Garden. Surprising and entertaining, if a tad dense for a light, escapist read.

The Edge of the Plain by James Crawford is excellent non-fiction about borders, I listened to the audiobook a few months ago and it was super interesting. For fiction if you haven’t done any le Carre he seems an obvious choice if you like Mick Herron? And Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry is a phenomenal epic which you might well enjoy too if you haven’t read it yet.
